cwmcoders year 2
Welcome to our coding area. Have a look around and start experimenting on different things from stimulations to logo. Remember to look for patterns.
daisy the dinosaur
Learn the basics of computer programming with Daisy the Dinosaur! This free, fun app has an easy drag and drop interface that kids of all ages can use to animate Daisy to dance across the screen. Kids will intuitively grasp the basics of objects, sequencing, loops and events by solving this app's challenges. After playing Daisy, kids can choose to download a kit to program their own computer game. Remember its already on your iPad.
Starlogo
StarLogo is a programmable modeling environment for exploring the workings of decentralized systems -- systems that are organized without an organizer, coordinated without a coordinator. With StarLogo, you can model (and gain insights into) many real-life phenomena, such as bird flocks, traffic jams, ant colonies, and market economies. Use on a PC computer.
design a cell phone
Help engineering director Elena design and manufacture a cell phone to help senior citizens get the most out of new technology!
plant stimulation
You are working for a plant development company - they have produced a new variety of super-crop, but they now need you to find out the optimum conditions for its growth - can it be grown commercially and generate a good profit? You will need to find out the best light and water inputs for the crop for the first 10 weeks of its life - but remember all of the water and light costs.
online logo
This is a simplified version of the programming language Logo. Use it to draw shapes by moving the turtle (arrow) around the screen using commands.
mathematics playground
This activity will introduce you to basic programming.
Run the sample program on the left side of the screen first.
Then click the directions button for a list of the commands you may use to create your own geometric artwork. Explore angles, measurement, and two dimensional geometry.

Bill kendrick's web turtle
WEB TURTLE is a fun drawing program which uses what's called "Turtle Graphics" (the same thing the computer language "Logo" uses for graphics). The idea behind "Turtle Graphics" is that you have a turtle who's got a pen stuck to its tail. You give it commands (like "go forward", "turn left", etc.) and it draws shapes on the screen.Web Turtle can be used to help teach simple computer programming as well as the basics of geometry!
